Boiler plate has the same atmospheric corrosion resistance as plain carbon steel (mild black steel). Both are known to corrode and should not be used for fire box material. Both boiler plate & regular mild steel have no nickel or chromium in them. ASTM A 516 boiler plate is pressure tested for pressure vessels.
